A new entry

Sang a little music at a nursing home today. The folks seemed to really enjoy the cowboy songs particularly the old standards--Home on the Range, Red River Valley, Ghost Riders.

A picture taken near Platoro in southern Colorado. The cowboys are herding the cattle up the Conejos River Valley on National Forest lands for the summer.

We are in this area nearly every summer and knew that cattle were taken up for grazing near the Continental Divide, but this year we were fortunate enough to see the cattle being herded up.

Jim Garling has made a quick study of the music of the cowboy era, the western movies, and music of present-day artists that reflect the cowboy's way of life. Audiences young and old enjoy Jim's rich, melodious voice, his remarkable gutiar skills, and the short histories or interesting anecedotes he often tells about the songs he sings.
